The Line: Philadelphia Phillies -128 / San Francisco Giants +118 --- Over/Under: 9
Over at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies will be continuing their MLB series.
On Monday, the Phillies cruised to an 11-0 shutout win. In the Tuesday edition of this set, Philly won again 4-2.
On Wednesday, the Giants will be going with Chris Stratton in the start. In his 38.1 innings and 3-2 record this year, Stratton has a 3.99 ERA with 33 Ks and 16 BBs.
Leading the way for the Giants coming into Tuesday was Buster Posey with 33 hits, 14 runs and 14 RBI. On Tuesday, Posey went 0-for-4.
Over on the Phillies’ side, they’re going with Nick Pivetta on Wednesday. In his 34.0 innings and 1-2 record this year, Pivetta has a 4.76 ERA with 35 Ks and 10 BBs.
Tops in hitting heading into Tuesday for the Phillies was Odubel Herrera with 42 hits, 19 runs, five homers and 20 RBI. On Tuesday, Herrera had two hits and an RBI.
The Giants are 4-1 in the last five in game three of a series and 5-1 in Stratton’s last six starts. San Francisco is also 5-1 in Stratton’s last six starts on grass and 4-1 in his last five starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 6-2 in their last eight Wednesday games and 7-1 in Pivetta’s last eight home starts. Philadelphia is also 9-2 in Pivetta’s last 11 starts and 5-1 in his last six starts versus a team with a winning record.
Overall, Stratton has been a little choppy this year, but has more than three earned runs in just one start so far. As for Pivetta, he’s surrendered 10 earned on 11 hits over his last two starts in a span of 6.0 innings. I’m not ready to trust Pivetta again just yet, so I’m going Giants here.
