The Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies will conclude their MLB series on Sunday.
In the Friday opener, the Nationals managed a 4-0 shutout win. On Saturday, Washington did it again with a 4-3 comeback victory.
For Sunday’s game, the Nats will be sending out Anibal Sanchez. Over his 83.2 innings and 5-6 mark so far, Sanchez has a 3.66 ERA with 75 Ks and 33 BBs.
Washington scored three runs in the final two innings to bang out that win on Saturday. Juan Soto had a big night with a two-run homer, three hits and two runs.
Over on the Phillies’ side, they’re going with Jake Arrieta on Sunday. Across 108.0 innings and an 8-7 record, Arrieta has a 4.67 ERA with 85 Ks and 40 BBs.
Philly logged seven hits in the loss Saturday but couldn’t score after the fourth inning. Three Philadelphia players had two hits apiece, and Rhys Hoskins had two runs.
The Nationals are 4-0 in their last four in game three of a series and 6-1 in their last seven Sunday games. Washington is 7-1 in Sanchez’s last eight starts and 7-1 in his last eight on grass.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 4-10 in their last 14 in game three of a series and 2-5 in their last seven Sunday games. Philadelphia is 5-1 in Arrieta’s last six starts in game three of a series and 5-2 in his last seven home starts versus a team with a winning record.
Sanchez has been pretty darn reliable lately, with four quality starts in his last five outings and just two earned on 11 hits in 12.0 innings across his last two appearances.
As for Arrieta, He’s given up 14 earned in 16.1 innings over his last three starts, but somehow is still 2-1 in that time.
All things considered here, I like Sanchez better right now so I’m going Nationals.
