The Line: Pittsburgh Pirates +100 / Arizona Diamondbacks -110 --- Over/Under: 8
Out at PNC Park on Friday, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Pittsburgh Pirates will be continuing their MLB weekend series.
In the Thursday opener, the Diamondbacks posted eight runs in the first three innings on the way to a 9-3 victory.
For Friday’s game, the D-Backs will be going with LHP Patrick Corbin. In his 93.0 innings and 6-3 record this year, Corbin has a 3.48 ERA with 117 Ks and 27 BBs.
Leading the way for the Diamondbacks coming into this set was David Peralta, with 72 hits, 33 runs, 14 homers and 39 RBI. On Thursday, Peralta had a hit and a run.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re rolling with Ivan Nova on Friday. Across 73.1 innings and a 4-5 mark this season, Nova has a 4.42 ERA with 58 Ks and 15 BBs.
Pittsburgh’s top hitter this year is Corey Dickerson, with 78 hits, 32 runs and 32 RBI entering this series. In the opener, Austin Meadows logged three hits and a run.
The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in their last four Friday games and 6-1 in their last seven in game two of a series. Arizona is also 8-18 in Corbin’s last 26 road starts and 4-11 in his last 15 Friday starts.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 6-2 in their last eight Friday games and 5-2 in Nova’s last seven starts with five days’ rest. Pittsburgh is also 1-4 in Nova’s last five Friday starts and 1-5 in his last six starts in game two of a series.
Corbin has been pretty shaky lately, allowing 17 earned over his last four combined starts in a span of 23.2 innings. As for Nova, he’s given up two earned on nine hits across his last 11.2 innings and two starts, but was pretty bad for a stretch before that. I’m going to pick the Pirates here, but the play just might be the over.
