The Atlanta Braves and the Pittsburgh Pirates will meet up to continue their MLB series on Wednesday.

In the Tuesday opener of this set, the Braves notched nine runs in the final three innings to burst into a 12-5 win.

For Wednesday’s game, the Braves will be sending out Kevin Gausman in the start. Across his 55.0 innings and 2-4 record this year, Gausman has a 5.56 ERA with 57 Ks and 23 BBs.

The Braves had some great offensive numbers in the Tuesday win (13 hits, for one). Freddie Freeman led the way for Atlanta on three hits, two runs and a two-run homer.

Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re going with Joe Musgrove on Wednesday to start. In 65.0 innings and a 3-6 record this year, Musgrove has a 4.57 ERA with 51 Ks and 19 BBs.

Pittsburgh came out of the second inning with a 5-2 lead but couldn’t get anything going after that despite 10 hits on the night Tuesday. Melky Cabrera managed a two-run homer with three RBI and two hits on the night, though.

The Braves are 5-2 in Gausman’s last seven starts and 5-2 in his last seven on grass. The over is 4-0-1 in Gausman’s last five road starts and 6-1-1 in his last eight overall.

Meanwhile, the Pirates are 2-6 in Musgrove’s last eight starts and 0-4 in his last four home starts. Pitt is 0-5 in Musgrove’s last five starts with five days’ rest and the over is 5-1 in their last six Wednesday games.

Gausman was chugging along well last month with three straight quality starts. In his last outing however, he coughed up eight earned on eight hits with one K and two walks in just one inning.

As for Musgrove, he’s given up 11 earned on a whopping 21 hits in his last 11.0 innings across two starts, and he’s just 2-5 since April 27.

I like Gausman to bounce back here so I’m going Braves on what looks like a pretty good number.
