Pittsburgh Pirates -120 / Cincinnati Reds +110 O/U: 8
The Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates will match up on the MLB diamond on Friday.
In Thursday’s game one of this set, the Pirates peppered in a couple of runs late on the way to a 2-0 victory.
For the Friday game, the Reds will be bringing out Sonny Gray. In his first action of the year on March 31, Gray put up a loss on 2.2 innings, five hits and three runs (two earned) versus the Pirates.
In Thursday’s game one, Cincinnati’s Tucker Barnhart was the only player on the team with two hits, and Joey Votto went 0-for-7 combined with Yasiel Puig.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re sending out RHP Joe Musgrove. In his relief appearance on March 13, Musgrove logged 2.0 innings with one strikeout and zero earned.
In the game one win, Pittsburgh’s Josh Bell logged two hits and an RBI, and Melky Cabrera posted a trio of hits.
The Reds are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 1-5 in their last six Friday games. The under is 8-0 in Cincinnati’s last eight in game two of a series and 4-0-1 in their last five versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series and 4-1 in Musgrove’s last five home starts. Pittsburgh is 2-5 in their last seven versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and the over is 3-0-1 in their last four Friday games.
Gray looked really sketchy in his first action of the season, but he wasn’t downright terrible, so I guess that’s something.
As for Musgrove, he was stellar in the relief role but coming out in the first inning will be something completely different. I don’t think Musgrove will be in the game too long, but he should hold things down enough to help the Pirates win.
