Pittsburgh Pirates +103 / Colorado Rockies -113 O/U: 8.5
The Colorado Rockies and the Pittsburgh Pirates will continue their MLB series on Wednesday.
In the Tuesday opener of this set, Colorado peppered four runs in during the first four innings, and rode to a 5-0 shutout win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Rockies will be sending out Jon Gray in the starting role. Over his 53.1 innings and 3-4 mark this year, Gray has a 4.72 ERA with 59 Ks and 22 BBs.
In the shutout victory Tuesday, Colorado’s Charlie Blackmon led the team with a great game on three hits with a pair of RBI. The Rockies had 10 hits as a team as well.
Making the start for Pittsburgh on Wednesday will be Montana DuRapau. So far this year, DuRapau is sitting on a 1.35 ERA with nine Ks.
The Pirates could only muster three hits in Tuesday’s defeat, though Bryan Reynolds did manage a double and a couple of walks.
The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games and 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series. Colorado is 12-2 in Gray’s last 14 Wednesday starts and 11-3 in his last 14 in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 5-1 in their last six in game two of a series and the over is 4-0 in their last four Wednesday games. The under is 20-8 in Pittsburghs’ last 28 in game two of a series as well.
Gray has had some major ups and downs (mostly downs) in his last four outings. He’s got one quality start in that span, with three earned on eight hits in 6.0 innings. Aside from that, Gray has coughed up 15 earned in 15.0 innings in the other three starts.
I’m not wild about either team here, but if the Pirates can jump on Gray early they could have a good shot in this one. I’ll go Pitt.
