Pittsburgh Pirates -126 / Detroit Tigers +116 O/U: 8
The Detroit Tigers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will finish up their quick MLB set on Wednesday for game two.
In the Tuesday matchup, the Tigers managed to eke out a 5-4 win thanks to a run in the eighth inning that put them over the top.
For Wednesday’s game the Tigers will send out Jordan Zimmerman in the start. Over an 0-4 record and a 5.93 ERA, Zimmerman has 21 strikeouts this year.
Detroit logged six hits in the victory on Tuesday. Both Kevin Newman and Elias Diaz bashed two hits, and had a run and an RBI between them.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they're going with Trevor Williams on Wednesday. Over 54.0 innings and a 2-1 record so far, Williams has a 3.33 ERA with 42 Ks and 10 BBs.
Pittsburgh out-hit the Tigers 8-6 on Tuesday, but couldn’t finish things off. Miguel Cabrera finished with a pair of hits and an RBI for Detroit in that one.
The Tigers are 6-13 in their last 19 Wednesday games and 15-37 in their last 52 in game two of a series. The under is 4-0-1 in the Tigers’ last five Wednesday games and 5-2-2 in their last nine in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 4-1 in Williams’ last five home starts and 6-0 in his last six versus the AL Central. Pitt is 6-1 in Williams’ last seven Wednesday starts and 6-1 in his last seven in game two of a series.
Williams had a couple of tough outings near the beginning of may, logging nine earned in 12.0 innings on 16 hits, but the good news is that he didn’t notch a loss in either of those.
Since then, Williams put up two earned in 10.2 innings on 11 hits before heading to a brief IL stint. He’s all ready to go now and it’ll be interesting to see what he can do.
I don’t have a whole lot of faith in the Pirates at this point, but if Williams can give five solid innings like he’s capable of doing, they could be in a good spot here. I’ll go Pitt, but I’m staying back.
