|Date & Time||Wednesday September 19, 2018, 7:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Pittsburgh Pirates -200 / Kansas City Royals +170 --- Over/Under: 8
The Kansas City Royals will visit the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Wednesday as the two teams finish up their MLB set.
The Pirates eked out a 7-6 win in the Monday opener of this series, then on Tuesday we had an 11-inning marathon as the Pirates eked out a walk-off 2-1 win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Royals will be sending out Heath Fillmyer. In his 68.0 innings and 3-1 mark this year, Fillmyer has a 4.76 ERA with 43 Ks and 30 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Royals this year is Whit Merrifield, who came into game two on 175 hits, 82 runs, 12 homers and 57 RBI. On Tuesday, Merrifield had one hit.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re going with Chris Archer on Wednesday. Across 135.1 innings and a 4-8 mark this year, Archer has a 4.66 ERA with 145 Ks and 46 BBs.
Leading the way for the Pirates hitters is Starling Marte, who entered Tuesday on 142 hits, 75 runs, 19 homers and 67 RBI. In game two, Marte had three hits and one run.
The Royals are 11-43 in their last 54 in game three of a series and 1-4 in their last five Wednesday games. KC is 0-4 in Fillmyer’s last four road starts and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 12-5 in the last 17 Wednesday games and 1-5 in Archer’s last six starts. Pittsburgh is 1-5 in Archer’s last six starts on grass and the under is 15-2 in their last 17 in game three of a series.
After a couple of good starts, Fillmyer has stumbled a little bit with 10 earned on 11 hits over 9.2 innings in his last two outings. As for Archer, he had two quality starts going before posting four earned on six hits in 5.0 innings his last time up. I’m going to go with Archer to bounce back here and help the Pirates get a win.
