Pittsburgh Pirates +105 / Milwaukee Brewers -115 O/UL 8.5
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will kick off a four-game weekend MLB set on Thursday.
Milwaukee is coming off a two-game set against the Twins. The Brewers won the first game 5-4, then fell 5-3 on Tuesday before an off day Wednesday.
For the Thursday game, the Brewers will be sending out Chase Anderson in the start. over his 27.2 innings and 2-0 mark this year, Anderson has a 3.25 ERA with 29 Ks and 13 BBs.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they just finished up against Cincinnati in a four-game set. Pittsburgh won Monday’s first game but then lost the nightcap and the Tuesday matchup as well. On Wednesday in the finale, Pitt took a 7-2 win.
In the Thursday game, Pittsburgh will be sending out Joe Musgrove to start. In 59.0 innings and a 3-5 record so far, Musgrove has a 4.27 ERA with 45 Ks and 17 BBs.
The Brewers are 20-6 in their last 26 after an off day and 5-1 in Anderson’s last six starts. Milwaukee is 36-16 in the last 52 in game one of a series and 5-1 in their last six versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 2-8 in their last 10 Thursday games and 1-5 in the last six in game one of a series. Pitt is 1-6 in their last seven home games and 2-5 in Musgrove’s last seven starts.
Looking at Anderson’s last few starts, they haven’t been too bad, but nothing spectacular either. Over this last three, Anderson has allowed five earned in 12.2 innings on 13 hits.
As for Musgrove, he had two quality starts going before blowing six earned on 10 hits in 5.0 his last time up against the Dodgers. I’m willing to dismiss that one as a hiccup (even though he’s only got two good starts in his last five) and take Musgrove and the Pirates here.
