The Line: Pittsburgh Pirates -102 / Milwaukee Brewers -108 --- Over/Under: 8.5
On Wednesday from PNC Park, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will be finishing up their MLB series.
The Pirates eked out a 1-0 win on Monday to take game one, then on Tuesday Milwaukee returned the favor with a 3-2 win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Brewers will be bringing out lefty Brent Suter. In his 75.1 innings and 7-4 record this year, Suter has a 4.30 ERA with 62 Ks and 16 BBs.
Lorenzo Cain tops the Brewers offense this year with 73 hits, 43 runs and 25 RBI entering game two. On Tuesday, Cain had two hits and two runs.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re going with Chad Kuhl on Wednesday. Across 79.0 innings and a 5-4 mark this year, Kuhl has a 3.76 ERA with 75 Ks and 30 BBs.
Corey Dickerson is the leading Pirates hitter this season on 77 hits, 32 runs and 32 RBI entering Tuesday. In game two, Dickerson had one hit.
The Brewers are 8-2 in their last 10 Wednesday games and 5-1 in Suter’s last six starts. Milwaukee is also 7-2 in Suter’s last nine starts with four days’ rest and 5-2 in his last seven starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 6-0 in their last six Wednesday games and 3-7 in their last 10 in game three of a series. Pittsburgh is also 4-0 in Kuhl’s last four Wednesday starts and 5-1 in his last six home starts.
Suter has been a pretty serviceable starter lately, and hasn’t allowed more than three earned in any of his last six starts. As for Kuhl, he’s got four quality starts over his last five games and has allowed more than two earned just once in that span. This should be a pretty decent pitching matchup but I’m giving Kuhl and the Pirates a slight edge here.
