|Date & Time||Thursday July 12, 2018, 7:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Pittsburgh Pirates -125 / Milwaukee Brewers +115 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates meet Thursday in MLB action at PNC Park.
The Milwaukee Brewers look for a bounce back performance after winning seven of their last 10 games. The Brewers have allowed 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last six games. The Milwaukee Brewers have lost five of their last eight games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Christian Yelich leads the Brewers with 86 hits and 41 RBI while Lorenzo Cain and Jesus Aguilar have combined for 162 hits and 94 RBI. Wade Miley gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA and four strikeouts this season. Miley is 2-2 with a 3.79 ERA and 33 strikeouts in his career against the Pirates.
The Pittsburgh Pirates could use a feel good victory here after losing six of their last nine games. The Pirates have allowed eight runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost 10 of their last 12 games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Corey Dickerson leads the Pirates with 95 hits and 35 RBI while Starling Marte and Josh Bell have combined for 163 hits and 82 RBI. Jameson Taillon gets the ball, and he is 5-7 with a 4.05 ERA and 93 strikeouts this season. Taillon is 1-4 with a 3.70 ERA and 36 strikeouts in his career against the Brewers.
The Brewers are 5-1 in their last 6 during game 1 of a series, 4-1 in their last 5 Thursday games and 7-3 in their last 10 overall. The Pirates are 0-4 in their last 4 Thursday games, 2-5 in Taillons last 7 starts with 4 days of rest and 0-4 in Taillons last 4 home starts. The Pirates are 1-4 in Taillons last 5 starts vs. Brewers and the under is 19-5-3 in the last 27 meetings.
I really wanted to fade the Milwaukee Brewers considering they're coming off a late game Wednesday that went extra innings, and they're throwing out a pitcher who hasn't pitched in two months. Miley has just 6.1 innings under his belt this season. However, we're getting plus money with the better team, and you can never go wrong with that. Finding spots where you can get the better team at plus money, regardless of the situation, you're going to make a big long term profit. I'll back the Brewers here just on the value of the price.
