Pittsburgh Pirates -105 / Milwaukee Brewers -105 O/U: 10

The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will match up on the MLB diamond Friday to start off their weekend series.

The Brewers are fresh off a set against the Reds. Milwaukee won Monday but lost in the Tuesday and Wednesday editions there. On Thursday, the Brewers fell in a tough one 1-0.

For Friday’s game, the Brewers are going with Zach Davies in the start. Over 91.2 innings and a 7-2 record this year, Davies has a 3.24 ERA with 59 Ks and 29 BBs.

Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re coming off a series versus the Cubs. Pittsburgh took the first three games of that set 18-5, 5-1 and 6-5. In the Thursday game, the Pirates lost 11-3.

Pittsburgh will be sending out Steven Brault in the start Friday. Across 56.2 innings and a 3-1 mark so far, Brault has a 4.29 ERA with 49 Ks and 30 BBs.

The Brewers are 1-6 in their last seven in game one of a series and 1-6 in their last seven Friday games. Milwaukee is 5-2 in Davies’ last seven starts and 2-5 in his last seven road starts.

Meanwhile, the Pirates are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 5-11 in their last 16 in game one of a series. Pittsburgh is 6-2 in Brault’s last eight home starts and 6-2 in his last eight in game one of a series.

Davies had a couple of stumbles last month, with nine earned on 15 hits in a 6.2-inning span over two starts. he calmed down his last time up though, with one earned in 5.1 innings.

As for Brault, he’s been pretty steady overall lately. Over his last eight starts, he’s given up more than two earned runs just once (three) and is 3-0 during that stretch. Pittsburgh has shown some fire lately so I’m taking the Pirates in the opener here.
