Pittsburgh Pirates -105 / Milwaukee Brewers -105 O/U: 9.5
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will match up on the MLB diamond Sunday to complete their series.
In the Friday opener of this set, the Brewers eked out a 7-6 win. On Saturday, Pittsburgh got some revenge on a 12-2 win.
For Sunday’s game, the Brewers will be sending out Chase Anderson in the start. Across his 62.2 innings and 4-2 record this year, Anderson has a 4.31 ERA with 63 Ks and 22 BBs.
Milwaukee logged seven hits in the loss on Saturday and really couldn’t get much going offensively. Christian Yelich led the team with a 2-for-2 line and a walk.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re going with Joe Musgrove in the start. Over 93.2 innings and a 6-7 mark thus far, Musgrove has a 4.13 ERA with 78 Ks and 22 BBs.
The Pirates put up a nice offensive display Saturday with 17 hits. Colin Moran was one of many big hitters on the night, finishing 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
The Brewers are 17-5 in their last 22 Sunday games and 28-11 in their last 39 in game three of a series. Milwaukee is 6-0 in Anderson’s last six starts in game three of a series and 2-7 in his last nine starts with four days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 5-2 in Musgrove’s last seven home starts versus a team with a winning record. The over is 5-1 in Pitt’s last six in game three of a series and 7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games.
Anderson had a rough time late last month against the Reds (six earned; 5.0 innings) but since has given up just three earned over 11.0 innings across two starts (1-0).
As for Musgrove, he’s been solid in his last three outings, with a total of one earned on 15 hits over 16.0 innings (2-0). I like Musgrove to keep it going here so I’m going to stick with the Pirates in the finale.
