The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will match up on the MLB diamond Wednesday to complete their series.
In the Monday opener, the Brewers powered out a 9-7 win. On Tuesday, Milwaukee made it two in a row with a 4-3 victory.
Milwaukee will send out Drew Pomeranz in the start on Wednesday. Pomeranz is 2-9 with a 5.54 ERA and 97 strikeouts this year.
Milwaukee posted seven hits on Tuesday, and made them count. Yasmani Grandal was the only Brewers player with two knocks, logging a double, an RBI and a run.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they’re going with Trevor Williams in the start Wednesday. In his 94.2 innings and 4.75 ERA this year, Williams has a 4-4 record with 77 Ks and 23 BBs.
Pittsburgh put up 10 hits in the Tuesday game but couldn’t catch the Brewers. Pablo Reyes and Jose Osuna each had two hits and an RBI for the Pirates there.
The Brewers are 5-9 in their last 14 versus a team with a losing record and 2-4 in their last six road games. The under is 5-0 in Milwaukee’s last five Wednesday games as well.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 4-9 in Williams’ last 13 starts with four days’ rest and 4-1 in his last five home starts. Pitt is 1-4 in Williams’ last five starts versus a team with a winning record and the over is 12-2 in the last 14 Wednesday games.
He had some bumps in the road during June and July, but over his last two games Williams has been solid. He’s got consecutive quality starts right now, giving up five earned on nine hits with nine strikeouts in 13.0 innings in that time.
Still, Williams bagged a win his last time out but prior to that had posted just one since May 10. I’m going to stick with the Brewers here.
