The Philadelphia Phillies and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in game two of their three game set in MLB action from PNC Park on Saturday.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to stay hot after winning five straight and seven of their last eight games following a 17-5 romp in the series opener on Friday. Odubel Herrera led the Phils with a home run and four RBIs, while Carlos Santana and Andrew Knapp each had three RBIs. Knapp hit a three run home run while going 2 for 4 with a double and Santana went 1 for 3 with a double as well. Rhys Hoskins, Maikel Franco and Jesmuel Valentin each had a double and two RBIs, while Scott Kingery went 4 for 5 with an RBI to cap off Philly’s scoring in the win. Cesar Hernandez went 3 for 5 while Nick Williams added a base knock as well to cap off the Phillies’ offense. Nick Pivetta lasted just 2.2 innings, while Edubray Ramos picked up the win to improve to 3-0 this season. Jake Arrieta will start game two and is 5-6 with a 3.54 ERA and 61 strikeouts this season. In his career, Arrieta is 11-6 with a 3.01 ERA and 124 strikeouts against Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be looking for a bounce back performance to snap a four game losing streak after the game one beatdown on Friday. Corey Dickerson and Josh Harrison each went 3 for 4 with an RBI with Dickerson putting up a triple while Harrison added a double. Elias Diaz, Colin Moran and Starling Marte each added an RBI to round out Pittsburgh’s scoring in the loss, while Josh Bell and Gregory Polanco each added a double. Jordan Luplow chipped in a base hit as well to cap off Pittsburgh’s offense as a team in the loss. Trevor Williams took the loss, falling to 6-7 this season after allowing five runs on five hits over just 2.1 innings of work. Jameson Taillon will start game two and is 5-6 with a 4.05 ERA and 87 strikeouts this season. In his career, Taillon is 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA and 19 strikeouts against Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 5-1 in their last 6 games against the NL Central while the over is 5-1-1 in Arrieta’s last 7 road starts. Pittsburgh is 0-6 in their last 6 home games and 2-6 in Taillon’s last 8 home starts against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Philadelphia is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

Okay, some of these lines are confusing me on Saturday. I know Arrieta has been up and down and isn’t the ace he once was, but are we really going to leave plus money on the table after the way that Philly was swinging the bat on Friday? Taillon has been one of the better arms for the Pirates this season, but the Pirates are cold and Friday was the second time in four games that Pittsburgh allowed 17 runs in a game. The hotter team on a five game winning streak at plus money? Sign me up. Give me Philadelphia here.
