The Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants face off on Sunday at Coors Field for game three of their MLB series of NL West teams.
The Colorado Rockies battled back in the ninth inning on Friday but they couldn’t get it done in extras’ as they fell to the Giants. Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez each hit home runs and Justin Morneau added three hits as the Rockies scored four runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Jorge De La Rosa allowed four hits and two runs while striking out seven over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Brooks Brown took the loss. For Sunday’s game the Rockies start Tyler Matzek who has allowed 13 hits and four earned runs while striking out 10 over 15 innings for a 1-0 record and a 2.40 ERA.
The San Francisco Giants showed the guts we have seen from them in recent years as they hung in to beat the Rockies in extra innings. Justin Maxwell and Andre Susac each hit home runs and Angel Pagan had four hits as the Giants scored five runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Tim Hudson allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out two over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Jean Machi got the win. For Sunday’s game the Giants start Tim Lincecum who has allowed 15 hits and four earned runs while striking out 14 over 18 innings for a 1-1 record and a 2.00 ERA.
Colorado is 12-4 as a favorite, 20-9 in their last 29 home games, and 105 in Matzek’s last six starts in game three of a series. San Francisco is 6-1 against a left-handed starter, 5-10 in their last 15 games, and 2-5 in Lincecum’s last seven starts. San Francisco is 7-13 in their last 20 games in Colorado.
This should be another good but when Lincecum is good he is very good and he has been good so far this year so he is where my money goes.
