The Line: Kansas City Royals -134 / Chicago White Sox +124 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Kansas City Royals look to sweep the Chicago White Sox on early Thursday afternoon.
The Chicago White Sox are still looking for their first win, and it has a lot to do with horrible pitching. The White Sox have allowed 17 runs in their first two games, an issue that has obviously carried over from a year ago. The White Sox have also walked seven batters in this series. Offensively, Avisail Garcia leads Chicago with three hits and Tyler Flowers has three RBI. The White Sox need better production out of Adam LaRoche, who has struck out in half of his at bats. John Danks gets the ball, and he was 11-11 with a 4.74 ERA and had 129 strikeouts last season. Danks is 7-0 with a 2.43 ERA and has 70 strikeouts in his career against the Royals.
The Kansas City Royals are flat out tearing the cover off the ball, as Alcides Escobar and Alex Rios have combined for 10 hits and three RBI. Eric Hosmer leads KC with four RBI and Lorenzo Cain has scored three runs. The Royals have also struck out 13 batters and allowed six runs. The Kansas City Royals clearly don’t have much of a World Series hangover and are eager to continue this hot start. Edinson Volquez gets the nod, and he was 13-7 with a 30.4 ERA and had 140 strikeouts last season. This will be Volquez’s second career game against the White Sox.
The White Sox are 3-8 in their last 11 during game 3 of a series and 2-8 in Danks' last 10 starts. The Royals are 7-2 in their last 9 during game 3 of a series and 7-3 in their last 10 games vs. a left-handed starter. The White Sox are 5-2 in Danks' last 7 starts vs. Royals.
You see Danks' career numbers against the Royals? Yes, I'll have some of that. Take Chi and the plus money.
