The Line: San Diego Padres -110 / Cincinnati Reds +100 --- Over/Under: 8
On Saturday from Petco Park, the Cincinnati Reds and the San Diego Padres will be continuing their MLB set.
In the Friday opener, the Reds jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, taking the game 7-2.
For the Saturday game, the Reds are sending out RHP Matt Harvey. In his 46.1 innings and 1-3 record this year, Harvey has a 5.63 ERA with 36 Ks and 13 BBs.
Scooter Gennett leads the way for the Reds’ hitters, with 71 hits, 28 runs, 10 homers and 38 RBI entering this set. On Friday, Gennett had a homer with two runs.
Over on the Padres’ side, they’re going with Eric Lauer on Saturday. Across 29.1 innings and a 1-3 record this year, Lauer has a 7.67 ERA with 28 Ks and 15 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Padres this season is Jose Pirela, who had 61 hits, 33 runs and 17 RBI entering this set. In the opener, Pirela had one hit.
The Reds are 19-43 in their last 62 road games versus a left-handed starter and 16-38 in their last 54 games versus a left-handed starter. Cincinnati is also 5-13 in their last 18 during game two of a series and 8-21 in their last 29 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Padres are 5-0 in the last five Saturday games and 4-1 in their last five in game two of a series. San Diego is also 0-4 in Lauer’s last four starts and 0-4 in his last four starts on grass.
Harvey has been a little choppy lately, with seven combined earned runs in two of his last three starts. As for Lauer, he’s coughed up 15 earned combined in three of his last four starts. I’m not thrilled with either pitcher here, but I’m going to go with the Reds in this one.
