The Line: San Diego Padres -102 / San Francisco Giants -108 --- Over/Under: 8
Over at Petco Park on Tuesday, the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres will be finishing up their two-game MLB set.
In the Monday game, the Giants scored twice in the top of the 12th inning to bag a 5-3 win.
For Tuesday’s matchup, the Giants will be rolling out RHP Dereck Rodriguez. In his 59.0 innings and 5-1 mark this year, Rodriguez has a 2.75 ERA with 47 Ks and 15 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Giants this year is Brandon Crawford, with 104 hits, 44 runs, 10 homers and 42 RBI coming into this set. On Monday, Crawford had a hit and a run.
Over on the Padres’ side, they’re sending out Clayton Richard on Tuesday. Over 132.0 innings and a 7-10 mark this year, Richard has a 5.05 ERA with 96 Ks and 53 BBs.
Eric Hosmer leads the Padres in hitting this year, and he came out of the weekend with 101 hits, 45 runs, 10 homers and 42 RBI. On Monday, Hosmer had two hits and a run.
The Giants are 7-15 in their last 22 Tuesday games and 0-4 in their last four in game two of a series. San Fran is also 4-0 in Rodriguez’s last four starts with four days’ rest and 6-1 in his last seven starts.
Meanwhile, the Padres are 2-5 in their last seven in game two of a series and 1-5 in Richard’s last six starts. San Diego is 2-6 in Richard’s last eight starts with five days’ rest and 1-5 in his last six starts on grass.
Rodriguez has had a pretty nice run of games lately, and hasn’t allowed more than two earned in an appearance since June 19. As for Richard, he’s been sketchy over his last two starts with 13 earned in 8.0 innings. I’m going to go with Rodriguez here and take the Giants.
