The Line: San Francisco Giants -130 / Arizona Diamondbacks +120 --- Over/Under: 8
The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants meet Wednesday in MLB action at AT&T Park.
The Arizona Diamondbacks look for another victory after winning six of their last eight games. The Diamondbacks have scored 12 runs in their last three games and three or more runs in eight straight games. The Arizona Diamondbacks have won seven of their last nine games when scoring more than one run. David Peralta leads the Diamondbacks with 55 hits and 27 RBI while Ketel Marte and Paul Goldschmidt have combined for 96 hits and 39 RBI. Clay Buchholz gets the ball, and he is 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA and 14 strikeouts this season. This will be Buchholz’s second career game against the Giants.
The San Francisco Giants need a victory here to get back to a .500 record. The Giants have scored 18 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games. The San Francisco Giants have won seven of their last 10 games when scoring more than two runs. Brandon Crawford leads the Giants with 67 hits and 26 RBI while Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria have combined for 116 hits and 62 RBI. Chris Stratton gets the ball, and he is 7-3 with a 4.50 ERA and 55 strikeouts this season. Stratton is 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA and 26 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are 1-6 in their last 7 during game 3 of a series, 1-10 in their last 11 road games and 0-7 in their last 7 Wednesday games. The Giants are 7-3 in their last 10 during game 3 of a series, 10-1 in Strattons last 11 home starts and 4-0 in Strattons last 4 starts. The Diamondbacks are 11-5 in the last 16 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in San Francisco.
Buchholz has been solid in his limited time with the Diamondbacks, but he's still an inconsistent pitcher that gets lit up more times than not. Just 18 innings of a decent Buchholz isn't enough for me to say this is what you can count on every time he takes the mound. The Giants have great success when Stratton is on the hill despite some hiccups, and he's allowed just eight hits and three runs in his last 11 innings. I'm going to continue backing the San Francisco Giants, as you can consistently get this team at plus money or low juice, and they reward you more times than not.
