The Line: San Francisco Giants -108 / Colorado Rockies -102 --- Over/Under: 8
Saturday afternoon at AT&T Park, we’ve got MLB action coming as the Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants continue their series.
In the Thursday opener, the Rockies managed a 5-3 win. On Friday, Colorado kept it going with a 6-1 victory.
For the Saturday game, the Rockies will be bringing out RHP Jon Gray. In his 52.0 innings and 4-5 record this year, Gray has a 4.85 ERA with 59 Ks and 12 BBs.
Heading into game two of this set, Nolan Arenado led the Rockies with 46 hits, 22 runs and 23 RBI. On Friday, Arenado had two hits and two runs.
Over on the Giants’ side, they’re going with Chris Stratton on Saturday. In his 48.0 innings and 4-3 record this year, Stratton has a 4.88 ERA with 41 Ks and 22 BBs.
The Giants’ leading hitter is Brandon Belt, who had 46 hits, 25 runs, 10 homers and 25 RBI coming into Friday. In that game, Gorkys Hernandez had a solo homer.
The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five during game three of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games. Colorado is also 5-2 in Gray’s last seven starts in game three of a series and 3-9 in his last 12 starts with five days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Giants are 8-18 in their last 26 Saturday games and 8-1 in Stratton’s last nine home starts. San Fran is also 6-2 in Stratton’s last eight starts and 1-4 in his last five starts in game three of a series.
Gray is coming off a rough outing, giving up six earned on 10 hits in 5.1 innings versus the Brewers. As for Stratton, he’s coughed up 18 earned across his last four starts. I think Gray has a better chance at bouncing back with a good game here, so I’m taking Colorado.
