MLB | San Diego Padres (35-43) at San Francisco Giants (38-39)
Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants meet Saturday in MLB action at AT&T Park.

The San Diego Padres look for another victory after losing six of their last eight games. The Padres have allowed 17 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in four of their last eight games. The San Diego Padres have lost seven of their last eight games when allowing more than two runs. Offensively, Eric Hosmer leads the Padres with 80 hits and 35 RBI while Jose Pirela and Freddy Galvis have combined for 144 hits and 51 RBI. Jordan Lyles gets the ball, and he is 2-4 with a 4.46 ERA and 56 strikeouts this season. Lyles is 3-3 with a 6.11 ERA and 33 strikeouts in his career against the Giants.

The San Francisco Giants need a victory here in order to get back to a .500 record. The Giants have scored 11 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 10 games. The San Francisco Giants have won five of their last six games when scoring more than two runs. Brandon Crawford leads the Giants with 78 hits and 32 RBI while Andrew McCutchen and Buster Posey have combined for 140 hits and 60 RBI. Andrew Suarez gets the ball, and he is 2-4 with a 4.70 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season. This will be Suarez’s second career game against the Padres.

The Padres are 7-1 in their last 8 Saturday games, 10-2 in their last 12 during game 3 of a series and 1-4 in their last 5 road games. The Giants are 6-1 in their last 7 during game 3 of a series, 10-2 in their last 12 home games and 1-4 in Suarezs last 5 home starts. The Padres are 21-43 in the last 64 meetings in San Francisco.

Lyles has been hit hard all season long, especially on the road where he has an ERA over five and an allowed batting average of .279. Suarez has had his struggles as well, but he's given up two or less runs in three of his last four starts. The bottom line is that the San Francisco Giants are a tough team to beat at home and haven't lost back-to-back home games in over a month. I like the Giants offense to wake up here and for them to get a bounce back victory.

Pick:
San Francisco Giants -167
