|Date & Time||Wednesday September 26, 2018, 10:15 PM (EDT)|
The Line: San Francisco Giants -150 / San Diego Padres +130 --- Over/Under: 7
The San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants meet Wednesday in MLB action at AT&T Park.
The San Diego Padres could use a win after losing seven of their last 11 games. The Padres have scored nine runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last nine games. The San Diego Padres have won five of their last seven games when scoring more than three runs. Eric Hosmer leads the Padres with 150 hits and 67 RBI while Freddy Galvis and Manuel Margot have combined for 256 hits and 114 RBI. Eric Lauer gets the ball, and he is 6-7 with a 4.60 ERA and 94 strikeouts this season. Lauer is 0-0 with a 3.94 ERA and 14 strikeouts in his career against the Giants.
The San Francisco Giants could also use a win after losing five of their last six games. The Giants have scored seven runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last eight games. The San Francisco Giants have won three of their last five games when scoring at least four runs. Brandon Crawford leads the Giants with 134 hits and 54 RBI while Evan Longoria and Buster Posey have combined for 228 hits and 95 RBI. Madison Bumgarner gets the ball, and he is 6-6 with a 3.20 ERA and 103 strikeouts this season. Bumgarner is 11-9 with a 3.32 ERA and 204 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.
The Padres are 5-17 in their last 22 during game 3 of a series, 5-2 in their last 7 road games and 3-8 in their last 11 Wednesday games. The Giants are 7-19 in their last 26 during game 3 of a series, 0-7 in their last 7 Wednesday games and 6-2 in Bumgarners last 8 home starts. The Giants are 2-5 in Bumgarners last 7 starts vs. Padres, 11-4 in Bumgarners last 15 home starts vs. Padres and the Padres are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings.
Lauer is pitching some of his best baseball of the season right now, which includes allowing a combined three runs in his last 14 innings. The problem is we're getting somewhat of a cheap price with one of the top pitchers in baseball in Bumgarner. Any time I can get an ace at -150 or below, I'm taking it. Bumgarner hasn't been CY Young worthy this season, but he's still one of the best pitchers in the sport and the Giants win a ton of games when he takes the hill. At home, Bumgarner and the Giants have to be a solid play tonight.
