Down at AT&T Park on Saturday, the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants will be continuing their MLB set.

The Cardinals took the Thursday opener 11-2, then on Friday, we had a tight game as the Giants evened it up with a 3-2 victory.

For the Saturday game, the Cardinals will be bringing out RHP Carlos Martinez. In his 78.2 innings and 5-4 record this year, Martinez has a 3.20 ERA with 80 Ks and 45 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Cardinals this season is Marcell Ozuna, who came into Friday with 89 hits, 34 runs, 10 homers and 46 RBI. Ozuna was 0-for-4.

Over on the Giants’ side, they’re rolling with Jeff Samardzija on Saturday. Across 35.2 innings and a 1-4 record this year, Samardzija has a 6.56 ERA with 26 Ks and 23 BBs.

Brandon Crawford is the top Giants hitter this year, coming into game two with 91 hits, 38 runs and 39 RBI. On Friday, Crawford posted a run.

The Cardinals are 9-2 in Martinez’s last 11 starts with four days’ rest and 4-1 in his last five Saturday starts. St. Louis is also 2-5 in Martinez’s last seven starts and 15-7 in his last 22 starts versus the NL West.

Meanwhile, the Giants are 8-3 in their last 11 during game three of a series and 5-2 in the last seven Saturday games. San Fran is also 1-5 in Samardzija’s last six Saturday starts and 0-5 in his last five starts.

Martinez has had some bumps in the proverbial road this year, but over his last two starts he has four earned in 12.0 innings. As for Samardzija, he has just one quality start this season and has been pretty choppy this season (to put it lightly). I’m going with the Cardinals here.

Pick:
St. Louis Cardinals -105
