The Line: San Francisco Giants -164 / Texas Rangers +154 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants will be matching up in MLB activity from AT&T Park on Saturday.
In the Friday opener, the Rangers were down 6-0 but mounted an epic comeback to secure a 10-inning win 7-6.
Martin Perez will be taking the mound for the Rangers on Saturday. In his 63.2 innings and 2-5 record this year, Perez has a 6.93 ERA with 38 Ks and 25 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Rangers is Shin-Soo Choo, who entered this set on 131 hits, 73 runs, 21 homers and 58 RBI. On Friday, Choo had two RBI, a run and a hit.
Over on the Giants’ side, they’re going with Andrew Suarez on Saturday. Across 119.1 innings and a 4-9 mark this season, Suarez has a 4.68 ERA with 103 Ks and 31 BBs.
Andrew McCutchen leads the Giants in hitting this season with his 117 hits, 62 runs, 14 homers and 53 RBI entering this set. In the opener, McCutchen had a homer and two runs.
The Rangers are 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games and 10-4 in Perez’s last 14 Saturday starts. Texas is 1-7 in Perez’s last eight starts and 1-4 in his last five road starts.
The Giants are 3-8 in their last 11 in game two of a series and 0-7 in their last seven Saturday games. San Francisco is also 1-5 in Suarez’s last six starts versus a team with a losing record and the under is 8-2 in their last 10 Saturday games.
It’s been a rough couple of starts for Perez, who has given up 13 earned on 20 hits over his last 11.0 innings and hasn’t won a game since April 22. Suarez had a rough start his last time out, giving up five earned on seven hits in 2.2 innings. I don’t really trust either one of these pitchers, but I’ll take the Giants. The over may be the way to go, though.
