Baltimore Orioles (40-98) at Seattle Mariners (77-61)
|Date & Time||Tuesday September 4, 2018, 10:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Seattle Mariners -190 / Baltimore Orioles +178 --- Over/Under: 8
The Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners meet Tuesday in MLB action at Safeco Field.
The Baltimore Orioles could use a win here after losing 10 of their last 13 games. The Orioles have scored six runs in their last three games and three or less runs in eight of their last 13 games. The Baltimore Orioles have lost 12 straight games when scoring five or less runs. Adam Jones leads the Orioles with 144 hits and 55 RBI while Trey Mancini and Mark Trumbo have combined for 204 hits and 94 RBI. Alex Cobb gets the ball, and he is 4-15 with a 5.11 ERA and 98 strikeouts this season. Cobb is 2-4 with a 7.14 ERA and 34 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Seattle Mariners also need a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Mariners have scored 12 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last eight games. The Seattle Mariners have lost five of their last six games when scoring five or less runs. Jean Segura leads the Mariners with 163 hits and 60 RBI while Mitch Haniger and Dee Gordon have combined for 277 hits and 111 RBI. Wade LeBlanc gets the ball, and he is 8-3 with a 3.71 ERA and 108 strikeouts this season. LeBlanc is 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA and 11 strikeouts in his career against the Orioles.
The Orioles are 15-36 in their last 51 during game 2 of a series, 7-20 in their last 27 Tuesday games and 6-19 in Cobbs last 25 starts. The Mariners are 3-8 in their last 11 during game 2 of a series, 15-2 in LeBlancs last 17 home starts and 20-7 in LeBlancs last 27 starts. The Orioles are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings in Seattle, 0-4 in the last 4 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Seattle.
This price isn't great, but the Baltimore Orioles continue to burn money at a crazy rate, and Cobb has an ERA of 5.12 with an allowed batting average of .289 on the road this season. LeBlanc has allowed one run in his last 12 innings and is allowing just a .232 batting average at home. Of course, the Mariners also don't lose with LeBlanc at home, and they need to go on a tear in the month of September to have any chance of getting back in the playoff race. I'll lay the price here with confidence, as the O's are god awful.
