The Seattle Mariners and the Cleveland Indians face off on Saturday at Safeco Field in game three of their MLB series.
The Seattle Mariners bounced back from their loss to the Indians on Thursday by getting the win on Friday. Seth Smith hit a home run, Nelson Cruz had two hits, and Austin Jackson had a hit as the Mariners scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker allowed two hits and struck out eight over 8.0 innings to get the win and go to 2-5 for the season and Fernando Rodney earned his 14th save. For Saturday’s game the Mariners start Roenis Elias who has allowed 38 hits and 11 earned runs while striking out 31 over 38.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 2.56 ERA.
The Cleveland Indians never got the offense going on Friday as they lost to the Mariners. Jason Kipnis, Ryan Rayburn, and Nick Swisher each had hits as the Indians failed to score on three hits. Starting pitcher Trevor Bauer allowed six hits and two runs while striking out 10 over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Indians start Shaun Marcum who has allowed 11 hits and 10 runs while striking out 16 over 14.1 innings for a 1-0 record and a 6.28 ERA.
Seattle is 5-1 as a favorite, 6-2 in their last eight games, and 0-4 in Elias’ last four starts as a home favorite. Cleveland is 4-1 in their last five road games, 8-3 in their last 11 games, and 9-5 against the AL West. Cleveland is 3-8 in their last 11 games in Seattle.
I expect another low scoring game and my free pick for this one is the under. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
