Detroit Tigers (20-23) at Seattle Mariners (24-19)

The Line: Seattle Mariners -250 / Detroit Tigers +229 --- Over/Under: 8
Coming up Saturday evening from Safeco Field, the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners will be matching up in MLB activity.
The Tigers took the Thursday game one 3-2, then on Friday Seattle eked out a 5-4 win.
For the Saturday matchup, the Tigers will be going with Mike Fiers. In his 38.1 innings and 4-2 record this year, Fiers has a 4.23 ERA with 26 Ks and six walks.
Entering game two of this set, Nick Castellanos led the Tigers with 50 hits, 21 runs and 24 RBI. On Friday, Castellanos had a hit and a run.
Over on the Mariners’ side, they’re rolling out James Paxton on Saturday. Across 53.2 innings and a 2-1 record this year, Paxton has a 3.52 ERA with 71 Ks and 19 BBs.
Heading into Friday’s action, the Mariners’ leading hitter was Jean Segura with 55 hits, 30 runs and 28 RBI. In game two, Segura had two hits and an RBI.
The Tigers are 6-1 in their last seven Saturday games and the under is 5-1-1 in their last seven in game three of a series. The over is 5-1 in Fiers’ last six tarts on grass and 5-1 in his last six starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Mariners are 1-4 in Paxton’s last five home starts and 5-2 in his last seven starts. The over is 13-2-1 in Seattle’s last 16 Saturday games and 4-1 in their last five during game three of a series.
After a bad outing in KC, Fiers has been good over his last pair, with three earned in 11.1 innings and a 2-0 record. Paxton, meanwhile, is sitting on four straight quality starts but did give up three earned on six hits in 6.0 innings his last time up. This should be a great matchup, but I think the Mariners can eke out the win. The under makes sense as well.
