Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners
|Date & Time||Saturday July 20, 2019, 9:10 PM (EDT)|
Seattle Mariners +111 / Los Angeles Angels -131 O/U: 10
The Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Mariners will match up on the MLB circuit Saturday to continue their series.
In the Friday opener of this set, the Mariners slammed in five runs during the fourth inning and allowed just one hit in a 10-0 blowout.
For Saturday’s game, the Angels will be sending out Griffin Canning in the start. Over his 66.1 innings and 3-5 record this year, Canning has a 4.75 ERA with 71 Ks and 23 BBs.
LA had just the one hit on Friday. Luis Rengifo broke up the perfect game in the ninth but no other Angels hitter was able to do anything.
The driving force for Seattle in Friday’s victory was SP Mike Leake. He threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just the one hit, one walk and striking out six.
The Angels are 7-3 in their last 10 Saturday games and 1-4 in Canning’s last five road starts. The under is 7-1 in LA’s last eight in game two of a series and 3-1-1 in their last five Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Mariners are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 1-11 in their last 12 Saturday games. The over is 9-3 in Seattle’s last 12 in game two of a series and 34-16-2 in their last 52 Saturday games.
Canning hasn’t had a whole lot of luck on the mound lately. He’s given up nine earned runs on nine hits across his last two starts in just 4.2 innings. Prior to that, Canning had three starts in a four-outing span with three or fewer earned runs. He’s just 1-4 since June began, though.
I’m not thrilled about either team here really, but I’m going to go with the Angels on sheer potential.
