The Seattle Mariners and the Oakland A’s face off on Friday for game one of their series of American League Wildcard contenders.
The Seattle Mariners are contending for a Wildcard spot in the American League and winning this series could mean the difference between playing the one game playoff at home or on the road. The Oakland A’s have run into a rough spot in their season as they once looked like runaway winners of the AL West they are now fighting to hang on for a spot in the post season. As a team the A’s are hitting .247 with Coco Crisp hitting .257 Derrick Norris hitting .274, and Josh Donaldson hitting. 255. For game one against Seattle the A’s start Jason Hammel who has struggled since being traded from the Cubs.
