The Line: Seattle Mariners / Texas Rangers --- Over/Under:
The Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners meet Wednesday in MLB action at
The Texas Rangers could use a victory here after losing seven of their last 10 games. The Rangers have allowed 21 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 12 of their last 13 games. The Texas Rangers have lost seven of their last nine games when allowing at least one run. Offensively, Nomar Mazara leads the Rangers with 44 hits and 26 RBI while Shin-Soo Choo and Adrian Beltre have combined for 71 hits and 27 RBI. Bartolo Colon gets the ball, and he is 1-1 with a 3.32 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season. Colon is 20-12 with a 3.89 ERA and 164 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Seattle Mariners look for another victory after winning five of their last eight games. The Mariners have scored 14 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last eight games. The Seattle Mariners have won five of their last six games when scoring at least four runs. Jean Segura leads the Mariners with 54 hits and 28 RBI while Dee Gordon and Mitch Haniger have combined for 96 hits and 42 RBI. Christian Bergman gets the ball, and he was 4-5 with a 5.00 ERA and 33 strikeouts last season. Bergman is 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA and three strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 2-5 in their last 7 road games, 2-5 in their last 7 during game 2 of a series and 2-5 in their last 7 Wednesday games. The Mariners are 2-6 in their last 8 Wednesday games and 9-3 in their last 12 games vs. a right-handed starter. The over is 20-8-2 in Mariners last 30 games vs. a right-handed starter and the under is 3-1-1 in Colons last 5 starts on grass.
I don't like picking a team starting a pitcher for the first time in the middle of the season, but the Texas Rangers are downright awful due to a brutal pitching staff, and Colon hasn't been much better as of late. Also, this is a major quick turnaround for these clubs after playing extra innings last night, and it's a lot easier to get up after winning in walkoff fashion and sleeping in your own bed. Give me the Seattle Mariners.
