The Line: St. Louis Cardinals -110 / Arizona Diamondbacks +100 --- Over/Under: 8
Out at Busch Stadium on Saturday, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals will be picking up their MLB series once again.
In the Thursday opener of this set, the Diamondbacks scored twice in the second and cruised to a 3-1 victory.
For the Saturday game, the Diamondbacks will be bringing out RHP Zach Greinke for the start. In his 5.2 innings during his debut, Greinke put up five hits and one earned in a no-decision.
Leading the way for Arizona in the box this season are David Peralta (nine hits; five runs; four RBI) and Chris Owings (nine hits; seven runs; four RBI).
Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re going with Michael Wacha for the start on Saturday. In his 4.2 innings during his first start this year, Wacha put up four earned on five hits for a loss.
Tops in hitting for the Cardinals is Paul DeJong with 10 hits, three homers and five runs. Marcelo Ozuna, Tommy Pham and Jose Martinez are each second with eight hits apiece.
The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in the last four overall and 0-4 in their last four Saturday games. Arizona is also 20-9 in Greinke’s last 29 starts and 6-2 in his last eight starts versus the NL Central.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 18-8 in their last 26 during game two of a series and 5-11 in their last 16 overall. St. Louis is also 1-5 in their last six home games and 1-4 in Wacha’s last five starts versus a team with a winning record.
I don’t think I’ve picked the Cardinals for anything yet this year, and with the rough outing Wacha had against the Mets in his debut—and Greinke on the other side—I don’t think I’m going to start now. St. Louis simply doesn’t have a formidable offense these days, and it’s going to be tough for them to score runs consistently. I’m going Diamondbacks.
