The Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals will meet up on the MLB diamond to kick off their series on Friday.

Arizona sits at 46-45 on the season. The Diamondbacks are 26-23 on the road so far and 6-4 across their last 10 games overall.

On Friday, the Diamondbacks will be going with Robbie Ray in the start. Across a 6-6 record and a 3.96 ERA this year, Ray has 137 strikeouts to his credit.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re 44-44 through the top half of the season with a 24-18 record at Busch. St. Louis has lost six of their last 10 games.

St. Louis will be going with Adam Wainwright to kick things off. Across a 5-7 record this year and a 4.31 ERA, Wainwright has accumulated 82 strikeouts.

The Diamondbacks are 9-2 in their last 11 after an off day and 7-3 in their last 10 versus the NL Central. Arizona is 1-4 in their last five road games and 1-4 in their last five road games versus a right-handed starter.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 4-9 in their last 13 Friday games and 2-5 in their last seven after a loss. St. Louis is 8-2 in Wainwright’s last 10 starts versus the NL West and 1-6 in his last seven versus a team with a winning record.

In Wainwright’s last appearance, he put up 5.0 innings with two earned and six strikeouts in Seattle. He hasn’t allowed more than three earned in any of his last four games; trouble is, he’s just 0-2 during that time and hasn’t recorded a W since June 2.

The Cards have to give Wainwright a lot of run support these days, and I’m not sure they can do that consistently. I’m going Diamondbacks.

Andrew’s Pick Arizona Diamondbacks +112
