The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their set on Wednesday.

In the Monday opener of this series, St. Louis scored once in the fourth and once in the sixth, then hung on for an intense 2-1 victory.

The Cubs will send out Kyle Hendricks in the start Wednesday. Over his 113.1 innings and 7-8 record this year, Hendricks has a 3.26 ERA with 100 Ks and 25 BBs.

Chicago put up six hits on Tuesday, and Jason Heyward had half of them. He’d finish with a 3-for-5 line and one run.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re going with Miles Mikolas in the Wednesday outing. Over his 120.1 innings and 7-10 mark so far, Mikolas has a 4.19 ERA with 87 Ks and 20 BBs.

St. Louis managed seven hits in the win on Tuesday. Three Cards batters put up a pair of knocks each, and Paul Goldschmidt logged a solo homer.

The Cubs are 11-3 in their last 14 Wednesday games and 10-4 in Hendricks’ last 14 starts with four days’ rest. Chicago is 0-4 in Hendricks’ last four road starts and 0-6 in his last six starts.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games and 13-5 in MIkolas’ last 18 home starts. St. Louis is 25-12 in Mikolas’ last 37 starts and 0-4 in his last four with four days’ rest.

Hendricks has been really solid over his last five outings, with a total of eight earned runs in 25.0 innings. That said, he’s also 0-4 since June 14 and hasn’t gotten much run support.

As for Mikolas, he's riding three straight quality starts with six earned runs in 21.0 innings during that stretch.

This should be another great matchup as always, and a close game. I’m going with the Cards to eke one out, though.
