St. Louis, Missouri
St. Louis Cardinals -137 / Cincinnati Reds +127 O/U: 9
The Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals will match up on the MLB circuit to finish their series on Thursday.
In the Tuesday opener of this set, the Reds took a 4-1 win. On Wednesday, we had a rainout. That game will be made up on August 31, and pushes back the scheduled starters. Keep an eye on the rotation in the next couple of games for both teams, because things are in a state of flux right now.
For the Thursday game, the Reds will be going with Anthony DeSclafani in the start. Across his 2-3 record and 4.97 ERA so far, DeSclafani has 55 Ks to his name.
Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re sending out Dakota Hudson for the start in a spot previously occupied by Miles Mikolas (who is scheduled to pitch Friday in a key divisional matchup versus the Cubs). Hudson is 4-3 with a 3.94 ERA and 42 strikeouts so far this year.
The Reds are 5-1 in their last six Thursday games and 7-3 in their last 10 road games. Cincinnati is 6-2 in their last eight road games versus a team with a winning record and 5-2 in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five overall and 2-5 in their last seven versus a team with a losing record. The under is 6-1 in St. Louis’ last seven home games and the over is 5-2 in their last seven Thursday games.
Well, things are screwed up pretty well here; the original starters have been switched around due to the rainout and it’s one of those games that you can either disregard completely or try to get in value-wise on.
DeSclafani is well-experienced against the Cards, but Hudson is just dealing right now and coming out of a nice May. I’m going St. Louis here.
