St. Louis Cardinals +116 / Los Angeles Dodgers -126 O/U: 8.5
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals will be matching up on the MLB diamond Monday to kick off their series.
The Dodgers just completed a weekend set versus the Rockies. LA took game one 10-6 and Saturday’s game 7-2, then on Sunday the Dodgers had a big night on the scoreboard with a 12-6 victory.
For Monday’s game, the Dodgers will be sending out lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu for the start. Across 13.0 innings and a 2-0 record this year, Ryu has a 2.08 ERA with 13 Ks and zero walks.
Over on the St. Louis side, they played the Padres this past weekend. The Cardinals dropped the first two games of that set, but came back for a 4-1 Sunday win to prevent the sweep. In the Sunday game, Paul DeJong finished with one hit and two RBI for the Cardinals and Matt Carpenter had a double with one run and one RBI.
The Cardinals are sending out Miles Mikolas in the start Monday. In his 10.0 innings and 0-1 mark across two starts so far, Mikolas has a 7.20 ERA with five strikeouts and three walks.
The Dodgers are 30-12 in their last 42 in game one of a series and 4-0 in Ryu’s last four starts in game one of a series. LA is 4-9 in Ryu’s last 13 starts with five days’ rest and 7-2 in his last nine starts.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 1-4 in their last five ing game one of a series and 1-4 in their last five versus a left-handed starter. St. Louis is 7-1 in Mikolas’ last eight home starts and 4-1 in his last five starts in game one of a series.
Ryu has been cooking over his two starts this year, allowing one earned on four hits in the first one and two earned on six hits in the second. That’s about par for the course when it comes to Ryu though; he put up a 1.97 ERA last year.
Mikolas isn’t on that level, and he’ll probably be laboring here. Even with the home lift, I have to go Dodgers in game one.
