The Line: St. Louis Cardinals -140 / Los Angeles Dodgers +130 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The St Louis Cardinals look to stay hot with the Los Angeles Dodgers taking the field in Saturday action.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are locked in a battle with San Francisco for supremacy in the National League West and need every win they can muster. The Dodgers didn’t get the job done in a 3-0 loss at St Louis Friday with the offense never able to get untracked. Starter Michael Bolsinger allowed two runs on seven hits and three bases on balls over six frames to fall 3-1. The bats couldn’t support the effort on a six hit attack that saw Jimmy Rollins and Justin Turn record two hits. Carlos Frias takes the bump looking to get back on the winning track when he faces the Cardinals for the first time. Frias absorbed an 11-3 defeat versus San Diego with ten runs on 12 hits in four frames.
It seems as if the St Louis Cardinals always find a way to win and generally that is in fact the case. The Cardinals were at it again with Friday’s victory being number four in a row. The offense didn’t do much but didn’t need to with John Lackey tossing a five hit shutout and striking out nine through seven innings to even his record at 3-3. The Redbird did their damage on ten hits and five walks with Jhonny Peralta going 2-3 with an RBI and run while Kolten Wong was 2-5 with a pair of runs.Michael Wacha looks to stay unbeaten when he opposes the Dodgers in game two of their series. Wacha defeated Kansas City 6-1 on the road with an unearned run plated on five hits over seven innings.
The Dodgers are 1-7 in their last 8 games as an underdog while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 overall and 7-3 in their last 10 on grass. The under is 8-2 in the Cardinals last 10 Saturday games while the Cardinals are 40-11 in their last 51 home games and 45-15 in their last 60 games as a favorite. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and the Dodgers are 18-42 in the last 60 meetings in St. Louis. It’s tough going against the Cardinals right now even though the Dodgers are standing in the way…
