St. Louis Cardinals -190 / Miami Marlins +180 O/U: 8
The Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals will meet up on the MLB diamond Tuesday to continue their series.
In the Monday opener of this set, St. Louis scored three runs in the eighth inning on the way to a 5-0 win.
For Tuesday’s game, the Marlins will be sending out Jordan Yamamoto for the start. Through his 7.0 innings and 1-0 mark this year, Yamamoto has a clean 0.00 ERA with five Ks and two walks.
Miami came up with eight hits in the Monday game, but couldn’t translate them to runs (10 left on base). Brian Anderson was the only player on the team with two knocks.
Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re going with Jack Flaherty in the start Tuesday. Flaherty has 73.2 innings and a 4-3 record this year, with a 4.28 ERA, 81 Ks and 25 BBs.
St. Louis was more productive on Monday with their eight hits. Matt Carpenter was the big bat there with three hits, three runs, a solo homer and a double.
The Marlins are 7-19 in their last 26 Tuesday games and the over is 20-7-1 in their last 28 Tuesday games. The under is 7-3-1 in Miami’s last 11 in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Cards are 2-5 in Flaherty’s last seven Tuesday starts and 2-5 in his last seven versus the NL East. St. Louis is 12-5 in their last 17 Tuesday games and the over is 5-1 in the last six in game two of a series.
Yamamoto’s first start couldn’t have gone much better, and fittingly enough he did it at home against these same Cardinals with 7.0 innings, zero earned and three hits.
As for Flaherty, he’s given up eight earned over his last two starts in 9.0 innings, and hasn’t managed a decision in any of his last five starts.
I’m intrigued about what Yamamoto can do, especially if the bats get going a bit. I’m taking the Marlins.
