MLB | Philadelphia Phillies (24-16) at St. Louis Cardinals (23-17)
John Geliebter-USA TODAY Sports

Coming up Friday from Busch Stadium, the Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals will be continuing their MLB series.

In the Thursday opener, Philly scored five times in the final two innings to take a 6-2 win.

For Friday’s game, the Phillies will be bringing out RHP Jake Arrieta. In his 41.2 innings and 3-1 record this year, Arrieta has a 2.59 ERA with 27 Ks and 14 BBs.

Coming into this set, the Phillies’ leading hitter was Odubel Herrera, with 51 hits, 23 runs, six homers and 24 RBI. On Thursday, Herrera had two hits and an RBI.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re going with Michael Wacha on Friday. In his 43.2 innings and 4-1 mark this season, Wacha has a 3.09 ERA with 36 Ks and 19 BBs.

The top hitter for the Cards entering this series was Jose Martinez, with 42 hits, 14 runs, four homers and 23 RBI. On Thursday, Martinez had three hits.

The Phillies are 9-2 in their last 11 during game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Friday games. The under is 5-0 in Philly’s last five during game two of a series and 6-2-1 in their last nine Friday games.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 27-11 in their last 38 during game two of a series. St. Louis is also 4-1 in Wacha’s last five Friday starts and 6-1 in his last seven starts.

After a bad outing in Miami, Arrieta has bounced back with one earned over his last 13.1 innings and two starts. Wacha has been clean most of the year, and has given up two earned on nine hits over his last two starts and 11.1 innings. This should be a fun pitching matchup, but I’m slightly leaning toward the Cardinals. The under is probably the way to go, though.
