St. Louis Cardinals -159 / Pittsburgh Pirates +149 O/U: 8.5
The Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals will be picking up their MLB series once again on Saturday.
In the Thursday opener, St. Louis cranked up the offense and pummeled the Pirates for a 17-4 victory. On Friday in game two, the Pirates got a little revenge with a 2-1 victory.
For the Saturday game, the Pirates will be sending out Jordan Lyles in the start. Over his 32.2 innings and 2-1 record so far, Lyles has a 2.20 ERA with 29 Ks and 12 BBs.
In Friday’s win, the Pirates got two hits out of both Josh Bell and Kevin Moran, and nine on the evening.
Over on the Cardinals’ side, they’re sending out Miles Mikolas in the Saturday start. In his 47.0 innings and 4-2 record this year, Mikolas has a 4.02 ERA with 28 Ks and nine walks.
The Cardinals out-hit Pittsburgh on Friday but ended up losing the game. Marcell Ozuna put up a pair of knocks fo the Cards in that one.
The Pirates are 13-5 in their last 18 Saturday games and 5-1 in Lyles’ last six starts. Pitt is 5-1 in Lyles’ last six starts on grass and the under is 39-14-2 in their last 55 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 6-0 in MIkolas’ last six Saturday starts and 10-0 in his last 10 in game three of a series. St. Louis is 10-2 in Mikolas’ last 12 home starts and 21-5 in his last 26 starts.
Following a sketchy outing versus Arizona, Lyles has been okay with three earned in 10.2 innings over his last two starts—but he also threw 196 pitches during that time.
As for Mikolas, he has three quality starts in his last four tries, and even the “bad” one wasn’t terrible (5.0 innings; six hits; four earned). I like Mikolas to keep it going here and help the Cards win.
