|Date & Time||Monday September 10, 2018, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Tampa Bay Rays +140 / Cleveland Indians -150 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Cleveland Indians and the Tampa Bay Rays will be matching up in MLB activity from Tropicana Field on Monday.
Cleveland is coming off a set against the Blue Jays. After taking two of the first three games in that set, on Sunday the Indians lost 6-2.
For the Monday game, Cleveland will be bringing out Corey Kluber. In his 193.1 innings and 18-7 mark this year, Kluber has a 2.75 ERA with 190 Ks.
Francisco Lindor leads the Indians’ offense, entering the week on 165 hits, 117 runs, 33 homers and 84 RBI. On Sunday, Lindor hit a solo homer.
Over on the Rays’ side, they’re fresh off a series against the Orioles. Tampa took the first two games by a combined 24-7 score, then on Sunday the Rays scored five times in the first inning on the way to an 8-3 win.
On Monday, Tampa will be bringing out Diego Castillo. In his 45.0 innings and 3-2 mark this year, Castillo has a 3.40 ERA with 48 Ks.
Tampa’s top hitter this year is Matt Duffy, who entered the week on 137 hits, 52 runs and 42 RBI. In the O’s finale, Duffy posted a hit.
The Indians are 6-2 in their last eight in game one of a series and 21-8 in their last 29 Monday games. Cleveland is 7-1 in Kluber’s last eight Monday starts and 23-9 in his last 32 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 6-1 in their last seven versus the AL Central and 13-3 in their last 16 Monday games. The Rays are 2-10 in the last 12 head-to-head meetings in Tampa Bay and 1-4 in Kluber’s last five starts against them.
It’s been a nice pair of starts for Kluber, who has allowed just one run over 13.2 innings in his last two outings. It will be an interesting matchup to see him against this Rays offense, who put up some very dominant performances against the lowly Orioles this past weekend. This might be one to stay away from, but I’m going with Kuber and the Tribe here.
