The Line: Tampa Bay Rays -110 / Cleveland Indians +100 --- Over/Under: 7
The Cleveland Indians and the Tampa Bay Rays will be matching up at Tropicana Field on Wednesday in MLB action.
The Rays took a 6-5 win in the opener of this set on Monday, then on Tuesday Cleveland struck back on a 2-0 victory.
For Wednesday’s matchup, the Indians will be bringing out RHP Carlos Carrasco. In his 169.0 innings and 16-8 mark this year, Carrasco has a 3.41 ERA with 201 Ks and 34 BBs.
Francisco Lindor leads the Indians’ bats this year, entering Tuesday on 169 hits, 119 runs, 34 homers and 85 RBI. In game two, Lindor added one hit.
Over on the Rays’ side, they’re going with Blake Snell on Wednesday. Across 157.0 innings and an 18-5 mark, Snell has a 2.06 ERA with 186 Ks and 54 BBs.
Tampa’s top hitter is Matt Duffy, who came into game two on 138 hits, 52 runs and 42 RBI. On Tuesday, Duffy came up empty in a pinch-hit role.
The Indians are 23-6 in their last 29 Wednesday games and 39-13 in their last 52 in game three of a series. Cleveland is 20-7 in Carrasco’s last 27 Wednesday starts and 5-2 in his last seven road starts.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 6-2 in their last eight Wednesday games and 23-8 in their last 31 in game three of a series. Tampa is 6-0 in Snell’s last six starts and 7-1 in his last eight home starts.
Carrasco has been hit-and-miss over his last four starts (which followed a nice string of quality outings), posting 10 earned in two bad starts and one earned in two good ones. As for Snell, he’s allowed more than one earned just once in his last seven starts (two versus Baltimore) and has six straight wins. I’m going Rays in what should be a fun pitching matchup.
