|Date & Time||Monday April 1, 2019, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
Tampa Bay, Florida
Tampa Bay Rays -123 / Colorado Rockies +133 O/U: 7.5
The Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Rays will match up on the MLB circuit Monday.
For the Monday start, the Rockies are going with Chad Bettis. Across 27 games and 20 starts last year, Bettis logged a 5-2 mark with a 5.01 ERA, 80 Ks and 67 earned across 120.1 innings total.
The Rockies split with the Marlins this weekend, winning the first two and falling in the second pair. In the Sunday 3-0 loss, Colorado’s Charlie Blackmon managed one of the Rockies’ five hits on the day.
On Monday, the Rays will be starting Ryne Stanek. In his limited action so far this year, Stanek has put up a clean 2.0 innings with one K and one walk. Stanek managed a 2.98 ERA in 66.1 innings of action last season.
The Rays dropped their opener but have won three games since then over a tough Astros squad. In Sunday’s 3-1 win, Tampa’s Austin Meadows was the hero on two hits with three RBI and a run.
The Rockies are 13-3 in their last 13 Monday games and 0-4 in their last four in game four in a series. The under is 5-0-1 in the Rockies’ last six Monday games and 3-1-1 in thie last five in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 13-3 in the last 16 Monday games and 0-4 in their last four in game one of a series. The under is 4-1 in the Rays’ last five Monday games and the over is 4-1-1 in these teams’ last six meetings.
We got a good look at Bettis last season following his shortened 2017 campaign (46.1 innings). Bettis had a pretty solid run coming to the end of 2018 (less than two earned in eight of his last nine outings).
The Rays have some sneaky hitters and versatile arms on the mound, but if Bettis can get going I think he can control the game here. Still, until Colorado starts hitting, I’m going Tampa.
