Tampa Bay, Florida
Tampa Bay Rays -140 / Colorado Rockies +130 O/U: 7
The Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Rays will continue their MLB series on Tuesday.
In the Monday opener, the Rays stood tall with a 7-1 victory.
For Tuesday’s game, the Rockies will be going with LHP Kyle Freeland. In his first start this year, Freeland put up 7.0 innings with just two hits and one earned run alongside five strikeouts in a victory over the Marlins.
In the Monday game, Colorado’s Nolan Arenado led the way on three hits and an RBI, but it was the only run of the night for the Rockies.
Over on the Rays’ side, they’re going with Blake Snell on the hill Tuesday. Snell’s first start this year didn’t go so well, with 6.0 innings, six hits, five earned and three Ks in a loss versus Houston.
Kevin Kiermaier was the big hero for the Rays on Monday. He bagged a three-run homer and a double as part of a four-RBI evening.
The Rockies are 19-9 in their last 28 in game two of a series and 6-1 in Freeland’s last seven road starts. Colorado is 5-1 in Freeland’s last six Tuesday starts and 23-6 in his last 29 starts.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 13-3 in their last 16 in game two of a series and 4-0 in Snell’s last four with four days’ rest. Tampa is 4-0 in Snell’s last four Tuesday starts and 16-5 in his last 21 home starts.
Before we get too excited about Freeland’s great outing, let’s remember it was against the Marlins. That said, Freeland was putting up numbers like these routinely last year, so it’s become a pretty reliable occurrence.
As for Snell, he’s a way better pitcher than his opener indicates, and I think this one will be close—at least initially. I’m going to go with the Rays to eke one out at home, but realistically I’m staying away.
