|Date & Time||Wednesday July 11, 2018, 12:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Tampa Bay Rays -145 / Detroit Tigers +155 --- Over/Under: 7.5
On Wednesday from Tropicana Field, the Detroit Tigers and the Tampa Bay Rays will be finishing their MLB series.
In the opener of this set, the Rays eked out a 10-9 win. On Tuesday, Tampa scored five runs in the third inning and rode that to a 5-2 win.
For the Wednesday game, the Tigers will be rolling with RHP Jordan Zimmerman. In his 56.1 innings and 4-0 record this year, Zimmerman has a 3.51 ERA with 56 Ks and 10 BBs.
Nick Castellanos is the Tigers’ top hitter this year, and he came into game two with 110 hits, 52 runs, 15 homers and 55 RBI. On Tuesday, Castellanos had a double, an RBI and a run.
Over on the Rays’ side, they are starting Hunter Wood on Wednesday. Over 9.0 innings and a 2.00 ERA, Wood has five Ks.
Tops in hitting for the Rays is Matt Duffy, who entered Tuesday with 90 hits, 29 runs and 25 RBI. In game two, Duffy had one hit.
The Tigers are 1-4 in their last five Wednesday games and 4-0 in Zimmerman’s last four road starts. Detroit is 4-1 in Zimmerman’s last five starts and 7-2 in his last nine starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 11-4 in their last 15 games in game three of a series and 5-2 in their last seven games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. The under is 8-1 in the Rays’ last nine Wednesday games and 27-12-3 in the last 42 in game three of a series.
Zimmerman has been pretty solid lately, and he’s allowed just two earned over his last three starts in a span of 20.0 innings. I like Tampa’s offense, but with Zimmerman locked in like this I’m going to have to go with the Tigers.
