Houston Astros -125 / Tampa Bay Rays +115 O/U: 7.5
The Houston Astros and the Tampa Bay Rays will match up in MLB activity on Saturday from Tropicana Field.
The Astros took Game 1 of this set 5-1, then on Friday the Rays evened it up with a 4-2 victory.
In the Friday game, Houston’s Michael Brantley put up two hits and two RBI to lead the team.
For Saturday, the Astros will be bringing out RHP Collin McHugh. In his 72.1 innings last season, McHugh maintained a nice 1.99 ERA with a 6-2 record and 94 strikeouts.
Over on the Rays’ side, their top hitter Friday was Ji-Man Choi with one hit and two RBI for the cause.
In the Saturday matchup, Tampa will go with Tyler Glasnow in the start. In 11 starts during 2018, Glasnow managed a 1-5 record with a 4.20 ERA and 64 Ks over 55.2 innings in total.
The Astros are 11-3 in their last 14 in game three of a series and 16-5 in their last 21 Saturday games. Houston is 6-1 in McHugh’s last seven starts and 4-1 in his last five Saturday starts.
Meanwhile, Tampa is 1-5 in Glasnow’s last six starts and 0-4 in his last four starts on turf. Tampa is 35-17 in their last 52 in game three of a series and the over is 9-2 in their last 11 in game three of a series.
It’ll be interesting to see what McHugh can do here; he’s got some solid stuff and should be able to put together at least a few good innings before handing off to the bullpen.
Glasnow probably won’t last too long here before the Rays start rotating guys on the mound; that’s just how they work things these days. In any case, we should see a lot of different pitchers in this one, and those inconsistent looks may give Tampa an edge.
Still, the Astros seem to do pretty well with McHugh on the mound, so I’m going Houston here.
