The New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays will be matching up on the MLB circuit Friday to open their series.

New York is coming off a set versus the Mariners. The Yankees took the first two games of that series, then lost on Wednesday. In the Thursday finale, New York need on for a tight one, banging out a 3-1 win.

For Friday’s game, New York will be going with Domingo German. Over a 6-1 record and a 2.35 ERA this year, German has 39 strikeouts racked up.

Over on the Rays’ side, they just finished up against the Diamondbacks. Tampa won the first two in that series 12-1 and 6-3 but fell in the Wednesday finale 3-2.

Tyler Glasnow will be stepping into the starting role for the Rays Friday. Over his 6-0 record and 1.47 ERA, Glasnow has 46 strikeouts to his credit.

The Yankees are 5-0 in their last five versus the AL East and 10-2 in the last 12 Friday games. New York is 4-1 in the last five overall and 6-1 in German’s last seven starts.

Meanwhile, the Rays are 10-1 in their last 11 in game one of a series and 6-1 in Glasnow’s last seven starts. Tampa is also 2-5 in Glasnow’s last seven starts and 2-5 in his last seven on turf.

This will be Glasnow’s first time facing the Yankees as a Ray, but he’s not unfamiliar with them. The last time Glasnow took on the pinstripes, he was with the Pirates and allowed one run in 4.2 innings. The guy is dealing this year though, so it’s difficult to suggest anything but a Ray’s win here.
