Tampa Bay Rays -145 / New York Yankees +135 O/U: 8
The New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays will be meeting up on the MLB diamond to continue their series on Saturday.
In the Friday installment of this set, the Yankees eked out a tight and tense game 4-3 with neither team scoring over the final three innings.
For the Saturday game, New York will be bringing out lefty CC Sabathia. In his 25.1 innings and 2-1 record this year, Sabathia has a 3.20 ERA with 21 Ks and nine walks.
New York’s only hitter with more than one knock was Gary Sanchez, whose Friday resume included two hits and a run. Clint Frazier, Luke Voit and DJ LeMahieu also plated runs.
Over on the Rays’ side, they'll be sending out Blake Snell on Saturday. Snell is 3-3 with a 3.62 ERA so far.
The Rays had a couple good offensive performances in their Friday loss. Austin Meadows was the top hitter with two hits: a double and a solo home run.
The Yankees are 6-2 in the last eight in game two of a series and 37-14 in their last 51 Saturday games. New York is 4-1 in Sabathia’s last five starts and 7-3 in his last 10 Saturday starts.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 8-3 in their last 11 against a left-handed starter and 17-7 in their last 24 in game two of a series. Tampa is 1-4 in their last five Saturday games and the under is 4-1 in their last five in game two of a series.
This season, CC has done pretty much what the Yankees need them to do, which is go five innings and try to keep things relatively under control. Sabathia has been able to do that more often than not this year, but he needs help from the offense when he’s out there.
In any case, I like CC to so his thing in this one so I’ll go Yankees.
