New York Yankees (63-34) at Tampa Bay Rays (50-49)
|Date & Time||Tuesday July 24, 2018, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Tampa Bay Rays +127 / New York Yankees -137 --- Over/Under: 7
The New York Yankees will be visiting the Tampa Bay Rays once again on Tuesday as the two teams continue their MLB series from Tropicana Field.
In the Monday opener, the Rays very nearly blew a one-run lead in the ninth inning but managed to hang on 7-6.
For the Tuesday game, the Yanks will be bringing out Masahiro Tanaka. In his 83.1 innings and 7-2 mark this year, Tanaka has a 4.54 ERA with 83 Ks.
Leading the way in hitting coming into this set was Giancarlo Stanton, atop the Yankees offense with 105 hits, 59 runs, 23 homers and 57 RBI. On Monday, Stanton was 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Tampa will be calling up Yonny Chirinos for the start on Tuesday. It will be his first Major-League start since April 28.
Coming into this series, Matt Duffy led the Rays on 99 hits, 33 runs and 27 RBI. In the Monday opener, Duffy had a hit, a run and an RBI.
The Yankees are 6-1 in their last seven Tuesday games and 38-18 in their last 56 in game two of a series. The over is 6-0 in New York’s last six in game two of a series and they’re 54-26 in their last 80 overall.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 5-0 in their last five Tuesday games and 4-0 in their last four versus the AL East. Tampa is 7-2 in their last nine in game two of a series and the under is 7-1 in their last eight Tuesday games.
Tanaka had his Sunday start against the Mets rained out, so he’ll get a couple of additional days’ rest heading into this one. We were originally supposed to see All-Star Blake Snell here for the Rays, but he’s been placed on the DL. With him out, I’m going Yankees in this one.
