MLB | New York Yankees (76-73) at Tampa Bay Rays (73-78)

The Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees face off on Tuesday at Tropicana Field for game two of their series.

The Tampa Bay Rays needed the full nine innings to get a run across the plate on Monday but it was good enough to get them the win. Ben Zobrist had two hits and the game winning RBI, Logan Forsythe ad a hit and scored the winning run, and James Loney had a hit as the Rays scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Alex Colome allowed six hits and struck out four over 6.0 scoreless innings to not get a decision as Joel Peralta got the win. For Tuesday’s game the Rays stat Jake Odorizzi who has lost three of his last four decisions. For the season Odorizzi has allowed 144 hits and 72 earned runs while striking out 168 over 159 innings for a 10-12 record and a 4.08 ERA.

The New York Yankees had their chances on Monday but they were unable to get a runner across the plate as they fell in Tampa Bay. Martin Prado had two hits and Mark Teixeira and Carlos Beltran each had hits as the Yankees were shutout on six hits. Starting pitcher Chris Capuano allowed just two hits and struck out four over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Shawn Kelly took the loss to fall to 3-5 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Yankees start Michael Pineda ho has lost his last two decisions. For the season Pineda has allowed 48 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 36 over 57.1 innings for a 3-4 record and a 2.20 ERA.

Tampa Bay is 2-5 against a right-handed starter, 2-8 in game two of a series, and 1-4 in Odorizzi’s last five starts. New York is 8-3 against a team with a losing record, 1-6 in their last seven road games, and 2-5 in Pineda’s last seven starts. New York has won four of their last six games against Tampa Bay.

Pineda is a little over rated but we get him as a dog here against Odorizzi who can’t seem to win so he’s my play.
